Part 8 - Reunited in the Waking World by Game Master (GM)

One by one the cats open their eyes and find themselves on the roof of
the familiar shed. The Meeting Place is warm in the late
afternoon sun.
Leon and Miss Kitty are there, watching them with expressions of great
concern. Three other cats are there also, but a second look
confirms that they are simply the ghostly shades of cats which came
here long ago, or will come, at some point in the future.
Leon speaks as soon as he sees the first hint that any of his friends are opening their eyes...
"My friends. I must apologise. The Boggin was too
powerful for me, and forced me to run. I am truly sorry that I
was not able to continue the quest. Did you succeed? Has
the Boggins' hold been broken? Did you... "
Miss Kitty interrups him, "Give them a moment Leon. Sometimes it
can be difficult when you have been far into the Dream. They will
tell us all when they are ready." Then she sits and watches, her
impatience just as obvious as Leon's.

OGMO nods to Leon benevolently, and explains.
"Evil and quaking about the water
You excrete bright diamonds over the mud
Heavy! The fun will die
All bright about the towers
We battle electric dreams against the virgin
Damn! The Knight is done
We are odorous about the mist
You divine poisonous witches near the air
Whoa! The twilight will come again
clouded defiant
in another country
nothing to lose
From which dreams
the god
chase his dream
talking to himself," she says, succinctly wrapping up everything that happened after Leon left.

Syd sits a moment longer, then slowly opens his eyes, ...only to close
them again. Pulling ones self from the lull of a warm afternoon sunbeam
can be one of the most challenging endeavors a cat can undertake. He
opens one eye as OGMO begins to speak once more in her once familiar
riddles, and he smiles as he opens the other and arches his back into a
full body stretch. Yawning, he says nothing, only looking over the back
yard and trying to regain some sense of time in the 'real' world of
humanity. Let OGMO tell the tale, his mouth was parched and he needed
water more than he needed words in it right now.

"Dat would mean 'yeah'," Antonio the Translator translates, giving her one of his utterly confused looks.
A pause.
"I dink..."

Leon relaxes a little. It seems that his failure had not resulted
in the failure of the mission. Mister Pig had been saved without
him.
"That is good news." he stands, stretching his back into a high arch, and yawning, "And
now I believe I should be going. Debra will be preparing my
dinner about now, and she worries if I come home late. And as we
know, human worries breed more Boggins."
"Mister Pig, you should go home too. Knowing that you were in a
vulnerable position, Boggins may have attempted something in your
absence, thinking you would be unable to do anything about it when you
returned."
His eyes turn skywards, "If the weather holds, and I believe it will, I'll be here again tomorrow morning."
He starts towards the edge of the roof, and pauses to study one of the
ghost cats, a small, almost kittenish one, that he has never seen here
before. As always, he wonders, is this some long-gone individual,
or one who has yet to be born? The ghost cat, for its part, shows
no sign of interest in Leon.

Syd yawns, smacking his lips in an attempt to find something to
swallow. He thinks back to his last meal of Tuna with the King,
realizing it has done little to satisfy his real-world appetite.
Looking to the Boggin Slayer, he asks, " I'm kind'a hungry. You think we could find something to eat up at your place Antonio?" he arches his back, stretching muscles that felt as if they hadn't been
moved in days. The rigors of dream-lag were wearing on him, and Syd
felt the need to move.

"Aww man, it's you guys..." Cyan said as he finished pulling himself to the top of the roof, a bit
embarrassed that he had not been able to accompany them all previously
due to his owner putting him into a 'beauty pageant', "Sorry
I couldn't be there for ya...I was indisposed! I had to go save some
er, people from this big monster thing and it seriously took up all my
time. I certainly wasn't entered into a beauty contest for cats and
dressed up to look like an Eastern King..."
Cyan would've blushed if he could but merely plopped himself down and
took a dangerous glance all around, wanting to make sure that he hadn't
spilled the beans of where he'd actually been.
"Yeah, that should've fooled them..." The cat thought to himself, "That should've fooled them good, Cyan you are so smart!"
"I'm so smart!" He, unknowingly, declared out loud with a bright grin upon his face.

"Well, ya' neva' know, so cut me some slack, Jack.
Might be nodin', might be some feast. Man! You's is all invited upside
dere, anyway, if ya' fancy it. Man! If we is lucky den mah' lady
gots'ta be dere, and she always slips me sump'n 'estra," Antonio says with a grin like the Cheshire cat.
Then his expressions shifts a bit and he glances over Cyan's fur.
"Smart enough t'have won de contest?" he
asks innocently before he leaps off the roof to lead the way to his
place, to whatever extent is was his. At least it was his place
to protect, as his lady lived elsewhere.

"Well, then, well done all of you," says Miss Kitty, purring her appreciation.
"And I am especially glad to see you safe and sound, Shadow Dancer," she says, rubbing her nose against Mister Pig. "Come, I'll walk you home, and you can tell me all about your adventures."

Mister Pig stands and addresses the assembled felines, "My
friends, Syd and Leon make a good point. It must be time to
eat. Furthermore, Leon is correct about the fact that the Boggins
may have already attempted to take advantage of my situation."
He moves towards the edge of the roof closest to the Climbing Tree, "I will see you all tomorrow."
Then he waits for Miss Kitty to lead the way.

Leon turns slowly to Antonio, considering his invitation. Not that he's overly hungry, but taking a look won't hurt. "Your invitation is much appreciated." Leon stretches his legs and follows Antonio to his home.

Jumping from the shed to the tree and to the ground below, Miss Kitty
leads the way around Leon's house and towards that of Mister Pig and
the Smiths. Her tailed is raised high, and every motion she makes is
full of elegance.
"Was it scary?" she asks her friend as they walk.

"I thought it was scary." replies Mister Pig, shaking himself, and then hurrying a little to catch up with Miss Kitty, "Even though I knew it was only a dream."
"The others didn't seem to think it was so scary though, not even when
Leon turned into a Boggin. They were all much braver than I was."
He stops in his tracks, staring intently at Miss Kitty, "I really couldn't have done it without my friends."
